Print Houston 2011 – Rockin’ Rollin’ Prints – June 11, 2011 – FREE & Open to the Public

Come out to Art Supply on main, Saturday, June 11th, 2711 Main Street,  9:00am – 4:00pm and watch as Texas artists line up to get their oversized woodblocks inked and then printed under the drum of a 3-ton steamroller. Artists have been carving 3’ x 5’ blocks, individually and in teams, to the theme The Seven Deadly Sins.

FREE and Open To Public

Dancers from Sandra Organ’s troupe Earthen Vessels will be on-site from 9:30 to 12:30 for a “dance-the-print” event. Cheer them on as they move their bodies and feet across the paper atop an inked block.

Drive-By Press will be printing from the back of their van. They have traveled over 250,000 miles spreading ink and their style of guerilla art making. Each design is hand-cut into a piece of wood then custom printed on site. For a small fee, participants are invited to collaborate with the artists in the selection and placement of the design, creating a one-of-a kind poster or T-shirt printed especially for them.

Join Xenia Fedorchenko, Tim Robtoy, and their Monstercise! crew as they print “monsters” you assemble from a multitude of carved linoleum blocks. The blocks consist of images of various appendages, heads, and torsos of beings real and imagined. From this truly collaborative and interactive exercise, you will walk away with your own unique Monstercised! print.

Looking to spruce up the walls in your business or artwork for that new loft? A silent auction of the steamroller prints will be held throughout the day. All bidding will end at 4:15p.m. Prints will be available for pick-up June 18th at Art Supply.

Rockin’ Rollin’ Prints is Free and open to the public. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
